The map is not the funnel

The funnel was a useful simplification for a while. It gave a scattered discipline a shape, and it gave a shape a number. What it never did was describe the terrain honestly.

This is a sample essay installed with the theme so the single-post template, the drop cap, the model card and the share row can be seen working. Delete it whenever you like — the templates do not depend on it.

The reading column is 720px wide, the body is set in Geist at 18.5px, and the opening paragraph takes a drop cap in Instrument Serif. Headings, pull quotes and lists all inherit from theme.json, so changing a token changes them everywhere at once.

Field Notes.

The dispatch that continues these essays — sent when the terrain shifts, not on a schedule.
